Bookclub

Anyone who loves reading will know the feeling of getting a little too excited about a book in a social situation and watching people’s eyes glaze over as you eagerly recommend novels that they have no intention of ever picking up.

They will also know the feeling of coming across someone whose eyes do not glaze over, who is equally excited about the book you are recommending, and wants to tell you about whatever they are reading too.

This magical feeling is, in my experience, just a little too rare. But I know those people are out there (if you read this blog, you are likely one of them), so I wanted to create a space where these lovers of literature, these overly-enthusiastic bookworms, have a space to chat about their favourite reads, to discover new ones together, and to find a community of other overly-enthusiastic bookworms.

Enter the Besos, Betty Bookclub.

What is it?

A friendly, informal, virtual conversation between book-lovers.

At the end of each month we will meet via video call to chat about whichever novel has been chosen (democratically by that pinnacle of virtual decision-making, the Facebook poll).

Bring wine, bring ideas, bring yourselves – and no pressure if you haven’t got round to finishing the book, we still want to see you!

Who is it for?

Anyone! If you enjoy reading, you love recommending a good book to a friend, and swapping paperbacks with pals like some sort of incredibly localised lending library – then this is for you.

You do not need a degree in English Literature to appreciate a decent read. This is not a space for highly intellectualised posturing about classical literature. Its a chat amongst friends about the books we love (or hate).

How do I join?

Simply enter your details in the form below. You will then be sent a link to our Facebook group where you can get to know everyone, start sharing ideas, and find details of the next meeting.

The facebook group will be where we choose the book for the next month. We will always try to choose something that is widely available to download on kindle or iPad to make this group as accessible as possible!
